Today, many efforts are being made to provide people around the world with safe drinking water. One example is a company that developed a straw to produce clean water. This special straw is used the same way people use a simple regular straw. When it was invented, a terrible disease was causing problems for the people living in Africa. ( 18 ), the original purpose of developing the straw was to improve people’s lives by taking the disease out of their lives.
To drink clean water, one side of the straw is put into the water, and people simply drink the water from the other side. The water goes through a special fiber in a plastic tube. The fiber blocks even very small materials to prevent them from entering the mouth. In this way, the water that comes out is ( 19 ). The materials contain several kinds of bacteria, and the straw can remove nearly 100 percent of them.
The technology of this straw has developed since the original product was invented years ago. Today, one straw can be used for about 4,000 liters of water. The company that created the straw has also developed many other types of products, and some of them are used when disasters occur. In fact, these products ( 20 ) in several countries, such as Thailand and Ecuador. In the future, these products may allow more people to drink safe, clean water in more areas and on more occasions.
Olive Oil
Spain produces the most olive oil in the world. About 70 percent of olive oil sold in the European Union is produced in Spain, and about 45 percent sold worldwide is also produced in Spain. However, its production has experienced serious damage in recent years due to climate change. The country faces ( 21 ) in the areas where olives are grown. This has had a huge impact on the amount of olive oil produced and on its price.
The problem with olive oil production in Spain may cause trouble for this country and the world. This is because a decrease in production in Spain would mean less production in the world. If people still want to buy the oil in this situation, the price will naturally go up. In fact, one of the world’s largest olive oil factories in Spain recently reported worrying levels of olive oil production. ( 22 ), the price of olive oil in the country rose rapidly in 2022.
The impact has caused a decrease in the number of sales in Spain. According to the government, more people are choosing cheaper products than olive oil. However, experts are concerned about this change because olive oil is important for ( 23 ). Losing olive oil could mean Spanish people lose a big part of their daily eating habits. Therefore, to handle the problem of the lack of rain, some places in the country have introduced solutions to reduce water use.

There are tens of thousands of polar bears in the world, and most of them live in Canada. Today, climate change has been having a major impact on them. Some polar bears, such as the ones living in some parts of Canada, are already in a difficult or impossible situation to survive. According to one study, since the middle of the 1990s, the level of warming in the Arctic has been more than twice as high as the world average.
Global warming has been having an effect on polar bears’ shelter and food supply. They usually live on the ice, and their food source is often other animals they catch on the ice. Ice is important for them. However, when there is less ice due to global warming, many polar bears spend more time on land. Since they cannot catch their food in the water, they find other sources like berries. This causes them to lose weight rapidly, which puts their lives in danger later.
To study the behavior of polar bears further, researchers examined the behavior of twenty polar bears during the summer months for three years. Some bears spent a lot of time resting to save their energy, but most of them tried to look for food. However, the researchers found that almost all of them had lost weight, an average of one kilogram daily. This showed the researchers how difficult it was to survive during summer when they did not have much ice to rely on.
Sadly, studies have shown that it will be tough for most polar bears to exist until 2100 if greenhouse gases are not reduced. In some areas, there is concern that they may not survive until 2030. Other studies also show that there will be no ice in the Arctic in summer by 2040. This, in turn, suggests that polar bears could survive longer if people succeed in reducing the amount of gases produced. This means the lives of these animals depend on human behavior.
