Part1
00:00 Oh totes Reds said Stoops totes Reds you
00:07 hey guys, welcome back to the Josh and
00:10 Melissa I’m Josh and I’m Melissa and
00:12 together we make the Josh and Melissa no
00:21 one thinks that’s funny except us huh
00:23 definitely not there are a few things
00:25 that we have noticed good, bad, ugly no so
00:33 we wanted to share with you guys some of
00:36 those differences between the u.s. and
00:46 are they going to go alright so the
00:53 airport in Auckland was the toilets the
00:56 flushers are different so in the u.s. we
00:59 just have one handle but in New Zealand
01:01 they have two different buttons there’s
01:03 always a small one and a big one I think
01:05 I figured it out I think the small one
01:08 is for when you go number one and the
01:11 bigger one is for when you go number two
01:18 there like somebody took a straw and
01:22 just inflate it so here’s the u.s.
01:25 mailbox relatively small and just like
01:32 it’s cute yeah they look like little
01:36 weird thing is the outlets here in the
01:39 US outlets are just on you plug
01:42 something in and it’s just now that it’s
01:44 charging it’s just now here you have a
01:46 little wipe switch next to the LF you
01:48 have to plug in the thing but then it
01:50 may still not be charging so then you
01:51 have to turn on the switch which is bad
01:54 them to maybe plug your laptop in in the
01:57 morning trying to get it to charge so
01:59 you can use it later you forget to turn
02:00 the switch and then it’s hiking New
02:06 Zeeland has so many beautiful hikes
02:09 however they’re not called hikes here
02:11 they are called either walks or tramps
02:14 and honestly I feel like I’m lying to
02:17 myself maybe New Zealanders are just
02:19 really fit we’re just not
02:22 I think dryers we’ve found out are just
02:27 there are no dryers here for the most
02:29 part it takes so long to hang things up
02:34 Zealand weather changes in like two
02:36 seconds it could be a nice day so you
02:38 run out and do laundry and then try to
02:39 get your clothes up on the line and then
02:41 all of a sudden downpour and they’re
02:44 whiter than they start so the first
02:46 house we stayed at was them and not
02:49 centrally heated it’s so cold and we’re
02:51 I think part of the problem too is we’re
02:53 here in the winter cranked the logs on
02:54 the fire and then we just spent our
02:57 nights like huddled around the fire
02:58 because we’re so cold
03:01 Kiwis love to crack jokes they they’re
03:06 just all real funny people at least that
03:08 we’ve encountered they love making fun
03:10 of you and they love cracking the jokes
03:12 even if no one else is laughing Nayla
03:15 it’s it’s hilarious there aren’t really
03:18 any mammals that are native to New
03:20 Zealand there are some mammals here now
03:21 like sheep just tons of birds are native
03:26 that Kiwis love birds everyone here is
03:30 like a birder you could say and it’s
03:34 all these birds oh yeah you can
03:36 breakfast and just like wow look at that
03:38 bird bird so since one of you had a bird
03:43 this one is strange and it still shocks
03:46 me even though like I know it’s a thing
03:49 people don’t wear shoes and
03:52 it is so strange to me I don’t
03:54 understand it all so it’s weird because
03:57 oftentimes they’re not even barefoot
03:59 they’re like in big wool socks like
04:03 the only thing I can figure out is maybe
04:05 they’ve been working on the farm so
04:07 they’re gumboots
04:08 are dirty and they didn’t feel like
04:10 putting on other shoes to add on to the
04:14 no shoes we’ve also noticed really short
04:18 shorts in the winter maybe if you’re
Part2
04:28 here in the US that would cost like 40
04:34 200 don’t understand I
04:36 moving to New Zealand I’m super glad I
04:39 know how to change though because it
04:40 costs so much money that now let’s do it
04:42 myself this is something that is
04:45 confusing to me the best thing that I’ve
04:47 noticed about Kiwis is that they’re very
04:54 also the worst thing that I’ve noticed
04:57 about Kiwis is that they are very
05:02 normal life that’s great
05:07 however in professional life not so
05:10 great
05:11 notice this a lot whatever we’re trying
05:16 it’s not a quick process it does
05:20 very nice but it takes a long time we’ve
05:27 been having a lot of eggs in New Zealand
05:28 first of all no one keeps their eggs in
05:31 the fridge here but also that yolks on
05:34 eggs are like super brightly coloured
05:37 here in the u.s. they’re kind of like a
05:38 hey-oh yellow there they’re like real
05:41 bright yolks so all right another thing
05:43 I’ve noticed which is good and bad there
05:46 is a lot less to choose from
05:49 so in the US if you go to the store you
05:54 have an entire row of shampoo choices in
05:58 New Zealand you don’t it makes it faster
06:06 there’s less to choose from so you just
06:07 grab it but it also at the beginning
06:10 makes it a lot slower because you’re not
06:12 used to only being able to choose from
06:14 five they have super good coffee in New
06:16 Zealand I didn’t even like coffee in the
06:18 US and now I drink coffee every day so
06:23 the sand fly and so cute another name
06:27 for sand flies is Lucifer sand flies are
06:30 the worst sand fly has always bite you
06:32 on the feet and ankles they itch so bad
06:34 it’s like a mosquito bite on steroids
06:38 they wake me up at night because they
06:39 itch so that it’s awful I used to really
06:42 not like road trips like I’ve never been
06:44 someone that just enjoys sitting in a
06:46 car and driving for a long period of
06:48 time in New Zealand
06:49 I don’t mind it because it is so
06:52 beautiful but the roads are so small and
06:57 so windy I get carsick decently easy and
07:00 so that’s not it’s not a fun time with
07:03 my stomach at least it’s pretty to look
07:05 at
07:05 so here’s something we are vegetarians
07:09 by night
07:14 meat is so expensive here more of the
07:26 are not unlimited it’s not the norm
07:29 in the u.s. phone lids always have an
07:31 option for unlimited data here I don’t
07:33 even know if it’s an option to have
07:35 unlimited on your phone internet in your
07:38 home is always unlimited you just pay
07:43 internet you want in New Zealand that’s
07:46 like a luxury to have unlimited internet
07:49 for the month most people pay for a
07:51 certain chunk and then if you use that
07:53 all up you’re done for alright guys I
07:58 things that we’ve discovered about New
08:00 Zealand and the US if you guys have any
08:03 other things if you guys have been to
08:05 the US or New Zealand comment down below
08:08 let us know differences that you have
08:12 button down below so you never miss a
08:15 video I’ll see you guys next time Josh
08:17 and Melissa out
