– As we’re driving through the streets,
it’s amazing how excited people are to see us.
Waving at us, taking pictures,
I kinda feel like a celebrity.
It’s a me, Mario!
Do, do, do, do, do, do.
Woo-hoo!
(engine revving)

Japan is known for being fun and quirky
and MariCAR is exactly that.
So, when you come to Tokyo,
you have to take these cars for a spin.
(upbeat music)

– There are few places in the world that embrace pop culture
and subculture quite like Japan and here in Tokyo,
you can drive right into that culture and explore the city,
not by foot, by bus, but by MariCAR.
It’s very important to get an international driver’s permit
from home as you’ll be driving on the street to Tokyo.
All right, time to get suited up.

We make sure that everything is safe.
All the cars are well maintained
and the first five minutes, you may get a little bit nervous
but you’ll get used to it.
And then after that, it’s all fun and games.

and then looking out over Tokyo Bay,
I think that was my favorite part.
– That was definitely pretty fun.
– This tour is just so much more
than just driving in a go-kart.
You’re also seeing the city.
Iconic sites like the Tokyo Tower.
This is the famous Shibuya Crossing.
So many people crossing in all directions.
– Because the go-karts are so low to the ground,
you feel absolutely everything
and just to see the sites from that angle is just amazing.
