1. On May 11, Elon Musk said he had found a new CEO for Twitter — or X Corp., as the social media company is now called. Musk said the new CEO would be starting in about six weeks. On May 12, he announced that the new CEO will be NBCUniversal’s Linda Yaccarino, an executive with strong connections to the advertising industry.

2. “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!” Musk wrote in a tweet. He added that Yaccarino “will focus primarily on business operations,” while Musk will focus on product design and new technology.

3. Earlier that day, NBCUniversal had said Yaccarino would step down immediately as chairwoman for global advertising and partnerships.

Last month, she interviewed Musk on a Miami stage in front of hundreds of advertisers. Yaccarino’s advertising connections could be essential to Twitter’s future.

5. Many advertisers left Twitter in the early months after Musk took over, fearing harm to their brands in the chaos that followed. Musk said in late April that advertisers had returned, but provided no details. Musk bought Twitter last fall, and has been running it since, making numerous decisions that were later reversed, and promises that were not kept.
