1. If you hate that new movie trailer or don’t like the new BTS song, you’ll have to find a new way to let the world know, because YouTube will no longer show how many people have clicked the “dislike” button under its videos.
2. On its official blog, YouTube announced that it is making the change to help protect video creators from harassment by viewers. After experimenting with removing the dislike button earlier in 2021, YouTube found that the number of “dislike attacks” — where viewers try to increase the number of dislikes on a video by as much as possible — were reduced.

(1)What YouTube channels do you usually watch?

(2)Are there any famous YouTubers you’d like to meet?

3.[responsivevoice voice = "US English Female" buttontext = ""]Video creators will still be able to see how many dislikes their own videos have gotten by using YouTube Studio.

4. YouTube wrote that although some people will not agree with the change, it believes that it is the best decision for the site. The change started “gradually” beginning on November 10, it wrote.

(1)Do you enjoy reading YouTube comments? Why? Why not?

(2)Do you often comment on or leave likes on YouTube videos? Why? Why not?

(3)Have you ever uploaded a video to YouTube? If so, did it get many views?

5. YouTube’s most disliked video is YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind, which has 19 million dislikes. Although the video — which was made by YouTube — was meant to be a celebration of the year’s YouTube content, many people thought it focused too much on products and celebrities instead of popular YouTube creators.
6. The second most disliked YouTube video is 2016’s Baby Shark Dance, which has become famous as one of the most annoying songs ever made. Made by South Korean children’s channel Pinkfong, the video has 14 million dislikes. However, it is also the most watched video on YouTube, and has been seen almost 10 billion times.

(1)What are your thoughts on YouTube’s decision to hide dislike counts on videos?

(2)Do you expect the change to reduce harassment on the site? Why? Why not?

(3)Is there anything you’d like to change about your favorite social media sites?
