1. US News & World Report has named the Mediterranean diet as the world’s best diet for 2022. For 12 years, US News & World Report has ranked the world’s best diets.
2. For 2022, it asked 27 experts to rank 40 diets on how easy they are to follow, how safe they are, whether they will help you lose weight, whether they help decrease the risk of diabetes and heart disease, and how healthy they are.

(1)Have you been to any Mediterranean countries? If so, what local foods did you try? If not, would you like to?

(2)How would you describe the typical diet in your country?

3.[responsivevoice voice = "US English Female" buttontext = ""]The Mediterranean diet is the type of cooking enjoyed by people who live in countries on the Mediterranean Sea, such as Cyprus, Greece, Italy or Spain. While there is no single Mediterranean diet, the diets of these countries do share some things that make them good for you.

4. Mediterranean cooking is simple and has lots of fruits and vegetables, grains, beans, seeds and nuts. Instead of butter it uses olive oil, which research has found to be better for your heart.

(1)What countries do you imagine have the least healthy diets?

(2)What meats are most commonly used in your country’s cooking? Which of them do you like best?

(3)What fruits and vegetables do you cook with most often?

5. The Mediterranean diet also uses lots of fish and not very much red meat, which studies have found may cause heart disease. This is the fifth year in a row that the Mediterranean diet has been named the world’s best.
6. Second place was a tie between the DASH diet — which focuses on fruits, vegetables, grains and low-fat meats to help people with high blood pressure — and the Flexitarian diet, which encourages a vegetarian diet but still lets people eat meat sometimes.

(1)How has your diet changed over the years?

(2)Do kids learn about nutrition in school in your country?

(3)Which of your friends or family would you say leads the healthiest lifestyle?
